Built entirely of golden teak, the Wat Ao Noi temple is a stunning chapel with an even more astounding price tag.
The exotic wood is exquisitely carved and guarded by two vibrantly painted Nagas. Inside visitors will find hand-painted bas-relief murals telling the Buddhist stories surrounding the image of a Buddha. Nearby, a stairway leads to Tham Phra Non, a cave temple with two resplendent reclining Buddhas. Fabulous views of the sea make the 10-15 minutes climb to the cave even more worthwhile.
