The Jungle Club in Koh Samui is restaurant and bar within a coconut plantation that overlooks Chaweng Bay. The drive up to this hillside resort may be hair-raising (especially the last few metres), but it’s worth it for some of the best views on the island.
The multilevel restaurant has several dining spaces furnished with bamboo sofas and colourful cushions. You can choose from a wooden deck with Thai cushions to individual thatch-and-bamboo salas (pavilions). The actual restaurant area itself hosts a DVD/library space, along with jazzy music.
The Jungle Club’s menu is mostly French-inspired, such as baguettes, salads, steak and chips and a selection of wines. If you fancy going Thai, there is a selection of curries and local dishes to choose from.
The best way to get to The Jungle Club is by the resort’s 4X4 or on a dirt bike – it’s not recommended in a saloon car and certainly not when it’s raining. Those in good shape can attempt to walk through the coconut plantation to reach the restaurant.
