Thongson Beach is one of the northernmost bays in Koh Samui. Although it’s only 8 kilometres from the busy area of Chaweng, this beach has an entirely different vibe because of its serenity.
The beach is known for its crystal clear waters and pebbled beach. The sea is generally flat throughout the year, which makes it ideal for certain water sports such as kayaking and paddleboarding. Due to the stones in the water, it’s suitable for visitors to wear aqua socks when swimming to avoid getting hurt. Otherwise, it makes for great swimming and relaxation.
Many people have come to this beach and have never left; hence the small residential population and the friendly ex-pats who live here. There are also a few restaurants and hotels on the beach. If you are in search of great shopping and diverse cuisine, you can go to the other nearby beaches.
While this beach is not known for an excellent selection of restaurants and bars, people love it because it provides an escape away from the hustle and bustle of touristy areas in Koh Samui. That’s why if you need some seclusion, this beach is highly recommended.
